"YES" OR "NO" Protein Powders

Why are we buying protein powders? Because it's easy right? How easy is it to make  your own without preservatives, fillers, and sugars?

Turns out...... Super Easy!

Powdered milk or dried milk is manufactured dairy product made by evaporating milk to dryness......

Wow. ( Does NOT sound HEALTHY)

Whey is the watery part of milk that remains after the formation of curds.
Hummm. ( Why not use yogurt or kefir for more benefits?)

Vegan "Protein Powders" are made up of nuts. seeds, hemp, quinoa, chick peas, and yellow peas.

Stop.... with the powders people! It's super easy and healthier to make your own "Protein" or Greens" Powders! AND CHEAPER!

Here is one of my recipes I use in the mornings

☆It's a sensory experience that has a vitalizing effect on the child
☆Can impove focus
☆Creates a fun time of closeness for parent and child
☆Working with the hands trains ovservation and awareness
☆Beeswax give a qualities of warmth

 Ingredients

1 cup beeswax
1 tsp of lanolin
2 tsp jojoba oil

Supplies
double boiler*
silicone muffin

Directions

Put water in the bottom pan. Add all the ingredients to the double boiler in the top pan. Keep an eye on the mixure. Use an old steinless steel spoon to stir up the indredients. *Put your color in. You can use the colors list down below.

*I have tested differnt ways to mix these colors so the color will not seperate. Simply make a paste with the colors you are using some jojoba oil and mix well over heat before you add to your beeswax.

*Colors
Colors very so you can use more or less. The nice thing is with the oven safe silicone you can melt down the wax and add more pigment to make them brighter or softer colors.
Orange: 1 tsp saffron
Green:1 tsp super greens powder, french green clay
Red: 1 tbsp Australian clay
Pink: 1/2 beetroot powder
Purple: 1/2 manganese violet, acai powder
Blue:1/2 ultramarine blue powder
Brown: 1/2 tsp coffee powder, cocoa powder
Black:1/2 activated charcoal
Yellow:1/2 tsp turmeric powder
Off White:1 tbsp ginger powder
Bright White: 1 tbs titanium dioxide for white or dilute colors

*Prevent the wax from burning using a double boiler.
How to make your own double boiler:
A double boiler consists of a bowl paced on top of a pan of simmering water. The bowl does not touch the water, but create a seal. The trapped steam keeps the top bowl going around 100C. Inside the top bowl you can put your wax to prevent it from burning.

Irresistible Chocolate Muffins ➹GF ➹SF

➹Gluten Free
➹Sugar Free
I try out healthy recipes all the time, but if it wasn't for my food critic living at home I woud make the silly mistake of publishing only something I would eat! Fortunately my 5 year old and I have very different tastes. I know if it passes her test, it must be worth telling all of the mom's out there!
I keep a stash in the freezer so I can pop one in her lunchbox in the morning.
This recipe should make 20-25 small muffins.

Turn of oven 150C fan forced 160C

1 cup of almond meal
1 cup of macadamia meal
or
2 cups of almond meal (if you don't have macadamia)
3 eggs
3 bananas
1 cup of soaked pitted dates (drained)
1/4 cup of coconut oil
2 Tbls of Cacao or to taste
1 organic dark chocolate bar
or
1/4 cup of dark chocolate drops
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp of cardamom
1/2 tsp salt

Bake for 20 minutes depending on how big the muffin trays you are using. Check them with a fork and when it comes out clean they are ready!!!
YUM

*If you have a high speed blender or thermomix you can make your own almond or macadamia meal by blending it until it becomes a soft powder.

*If you soak your dates in hot water for 5-10 minutes and drain them its so much easier to blend.

DIY Christmas Mugs with GF Chewy Choc Chip Cookies

You will think Christmas has come early when you taste these GF CHEWY Choc Chip Cookies. I made these for my daughters teachers and my neighbors last year and it was genially easy and fun to do.
I took large mugs from the store and bought plastic inserts to put the cookies in. This year I found some with lids!

Then took my permanent sharpie pen and wrote my message "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays" then sign your families name on the back. You can be super creative and have fun with it! One of my neighbors said she get complaints on hers all the time!

Supplies:
mugs
permanent sharpie pens
plastic inserts to go in the mug
nice bow, ribbon or string for decorating

To make the cookies:
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup of almond flour
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup choc chips
1/2 cup butter *or coconut oil
1 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla

Instructions
Preheat 180C
line cookie sheet with parchment paper
Mix everything except chocolate chips then add choc chips last then fold them in
Use a teaspoon to scoop out the mixture into the cookie sheet.
Bake 6-10 minutes. just a little golden on top
You don't want to over cook these. They might not appear to be finished as early as 6 minutes, but if you take them out and let them cool. You'll find it makes them very chewy! YuMMM
Let them cool down..... Should be Nice and soft.

Creating the cups:
Preheat oven on 180C.  Write your design on your mugs. When your finished put your cups in the oven for 30 minutes to seal in the sharpie design.
*Not dishwasher proof

P.S. I been told to leave plenty out for Santa
